GIS Analyst Internship (Fall Academic Semester)

Position Summary:
We are seeking eager and dynamic undergraduate students, ideally with GIS experience and data management skills (or with a strong passion to learn them) for a paid internship. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and possess technical, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Telework eligible with a flexible/part-time schedule.
• Pay rate: $18 per hour with limited unpaid vacation time.
• Academic credit available, conditional upon the university’s program.
Basic Qualifications:
• Undergraduate student in Geosciences, Geography, GIS, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or other similar accredited degree.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Preferred: Database, Python, API interactions, and Git/GitHub experience.
o Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and/or Esri’s app suite.
Desired Skills:
• Natural aptitude for accuracy, organization, and adherence to deadlines.
• Geospatial and data management skills.
o Geoprocessing workflows, network analysis, data mining, data visualization, and adheres to cartographic principles.
• Considered a plus to have programming, automation, database, and/or GIS development skills.
o Proficient in Python, SQL, HTML5/CSS, JavaScript, Arcade, Leaflet, or other related languages.
Responsibilities:
• Collect, manage, aggregate, process, and analyze large datasets.
• Automate geoprocessing workflows, develop GIS tools, and generate maps.
• Project management; handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently, absent step-by-step instructions.
• Reviews and documents processes and procedures.
• Ad hoc and/or Research & Development initiatives.
